Lou Véronique: An Artist Committed to Afro Dance
Djehinan Véronique Lou, better known as Lou Véronique, is an Ivorian dancer and artist whose journey reflects a deep passion for dance and a constant commitment to her art.
She began her training in urban and Afro dance in Abidjan between 2004 and 2009, under the guidance of choreographer Djaky Goly. From 2012 to 2016, she joined several companies and refined her style by participating in various African and contemporary dance workshops. In 2017, she expanded her learning with contemporary dance and choreography training in Burkina Faso and Niger. Her talent and determination led her to the École des Sables in Senegal, where she studied from 2018 to 2021 and obtained a degree in contemporary and African dance.
Alongside this education, Lou Véronique fully committed herself to her artistic career. In 2010, she participated in the Festival des Arts Nègres in Dakar and danced during the 50th Anniversary celebrations of Côte d'Ivoire’s Independence. In 2014, she joined the ADC Niamey company as a dancer, before becoming a trainer for an Afro-contemporary dance workshop for migrants in Niger in 2018.
From 2023 onwards, her journey took on a more international dimension. She participated in several dance competitions across Africa and performed in Europe with the creation Kolochi Baw. Her experience as a dancer, choreographer, and trainer provides her with invaluable expertise to train the dancers of tomorrow. Her pedagogical approach, both accessible and dynamic, seeks to showcase the richness of Afro-contemporary dance while encouraging personal expression and creativity in her students. As an accomplished educator, she adapts to all levels and shares her skills with enthusiasm.
Her ambition is to enable everyone to explore and appreciate the diversity of Afro-contemporary dance.
