Batucada (percussions brésiliennes )

Précédent Suivant

Presentation

The CORES DO BRASIL batucada was founded in Paris by a group of professional Brazilian musicians with a passion for percussion. Batucada is a genre of traditional Brazilian percussion music whose rhythmic formulas make it a sub-genre of samba.

The members of a samba drum kit are called ritmistas, particularly when it is part of a samba school. By extension, the term batucada is used in France to designate a group of musicians practising this musical genre. All the instruments (mostly percussion) make up a drum kit, the "beat" of which (batucada in Brazilian) is the origin of the name. The drum kit is at the heart of Rio de Janeiro's samba schools, providing the rhythmic part of their musical compositions (samba de enredo). In this case, the drums are known as samba drums.

All the members of CORES DO BRASIL are professional percussionists of Brazilian origin. Most of them have had careers as freelance musicians in a variety of well-known bands. CORES DO BRASIL performs on stage or as a strolling act at street and indoor events.

The company

From 6 to 30 musicians, with dancers and capoeiristas depending on the event.
